RAFFLES AND FAIRMONT HOTEL, KATARA TOWERS
Location: Qatar, Doha
Firm: Dspdoha
In this project I was responsible for translating intricate, pattern-inspired design concepts into large-scale, three-dimensional entrance doors for the public areas of a hotel. Each door stood 10 meters tall and was constructed using a sandwich technique, consisting of two mirrored parts assembled together to form the final piece. I developed the 3D models using SubD in Rhino, carefully considering fabrication constraints throughout the process. I worked closely with the client in an iterative design process to optimize both the form and functionality of the doors. My role also extended into the fabrication phase, where I assisted in preparing the negative molds used for casting the final metal components.
